The morning light
Acrylic on canvas, 10" × 12"
The morning light—orange and pink— rolls over the ramparts in its daily parade. The quiet morn is so eloquent that even the cock falls silent out of deference and respect. While in the house, the kitchen shows the first signs of stirring. The old lamp above the worn table is the only light, while the dawn rests quietly behind the lace drawn over the window. On the stove, the old coffee pot hiccups, the first sign that at least the coffee is waking up. Once it’s finished, and in the old chipped mug, out on the porch, it will see the last shades of peach and pink give way to the blue of day.
Original acrylic painting by Seattle artist Matthew Holloway.
