Memory plays tricks
Acrylic on canvas, 40" × 60"
Our histories are tied to the landscape. But rather than fixed, time shifts its structures reseting their perspectives, but not as their narratives. The definition between place and recollection is inherently unstable. Suspended somewhere between who we were and who we are, observation and recollection, reconstructed fragments hold space not for what was seen but for the after image that remains.
Original acrylic painting by Seattle artist Matthew Holloway.
