Practitioners of alchemy separated acids, alkalis, and ethereal oils from the three natural realms—mineral, vegetable, and animal, to turn toxins into a benison. This is a powerful meditation on identity, transformation, and the coexistence of multiple conditions of selfhood held in unstable equilibrium.
